After a complicated period following the coronavirus pandemic, Pol-ka, the company led by Adrian Suar, is once again betting on Argentine fiction in the world. With more than 25 years in the industry, the Argentine media production company, which produces fiction in daily, weekly and unitary formats, presents its main titles at the event held in Cannes from October 16 to 19 this year.

Buenos Chicos is the story of a group of fathers and mothers whose children will be involved in an extreme situation because they will make a bad decision that will change their lives forever. A group of friends decide to help and avenge one of the girls who is the victim of an abuse attempt, making a bad decision, which will make them fall into the trap of a person who forces them to become a gang wanted by the police. The boys will be forced to perform certain compromising actions and will be trapped in a circle, from which they will not be able to get out. This new reality will lead them to exacerbate their emotions and to live very intensely the romances and love stories, while they struggle to survive in a world that is totally alien to them.  For their part, their families will be torn between doing what is right or what their hearts dictate.

In addition, Pol-ka presents Argentina, Tierra de Amor y Venganza(season 1 and 2). In the first season, two Spanish friends get involved in the horror of their country’s Civil War; they will manage to get out of that hell alive. However, the friendship they were able to forge in those times of adversity will be corrupted by betrayal. In the face of a nation devastated by the war, Argentina will be seen as the ideal horizon for resurgence. The former friends will go there, at different times and with different fortunes.

In the second season of Argentina, Tierra de Amor y Venganza, the story takes place after the return to democracy in Argentina. Buenos Aires is convulsed by the new winds of change that emerged after the last dictatorship and the return of those who had to go into exile. The city is the epicenter of the meeting of the descendants of the Moretti and Salvat families, who had starred in the first season of ATAV. But despite the changes that society is going through, nothing will be easy for the characters in the story, who will have to fight for love, the search for truth, dignity, their rights and for justice; going through a path full of obstacles, betrayals, disappointments, revenge, hatred, passions and love in a country that is moving towards freedom but still has a lot of darkness to go through.

Also, Pol-kapresentsLa 1-5/18 Somos Uno.The story takes place in the neighborhood 1-5/18 «La Peñaloza», where neighbors from different backgrounds and realities coexist, who even though deprived of some rights and going through deprivation, are always willing to fight for the welfare of the whole community.  The struggle of the neighbors to protect the neighborhood from danger and class differences, intertwine with the love stories of the protagonists who discover that if they want to transform the reality of the village, they must remain united. Romance and action are part of daily life.

Also, ‘Trátame bien’, a fiction that follows José and Sofia, a 22-year-old married couple with two children, facing a new couple crisis. José is going through a hard time at work: the toy store chain founded by his father is about to go bankrupt. Sofia, on the other hand, successful at work, does not seem entirely happy either with her profession or with her own life. Jose and Sofia’s therapists suggest that they should go into couple’s therapy. Clara Lombardo will then be in charge of helping the couple to look at each other again, to meet again in this stage of maturity where many things have changed. In the middle of their lives, when the couple thought they already knew each other too well, they will feel that, in spite of the pain and the tragicomic evolution of daily life, a being they have not yet discovered is sleeping by their side.

Another of its main titles is Para Vestir Santos, a fiction that follows three sisters: Susi, Virgi and Male. They are three intelligent, beautiful, young women who cannot form a couple. The story begins with the death of Gloria, the girls’ mother. Susi, the oldest, works in a tollbooth, has no major vocational ambitions and has been in love with her first boyfriend all her life. Virgi, the middle one, is the most liberated of the three. She is unprejudiced and men enter her bed as easily as they leave. Male, the youngest, struggles to be independent; she is extremely sensitive and strong at the same time. All three live in their mother’s house.An acid and topical comedy about the fragility of bonds, the lack of commitment, and the phobias, paranoias and fears that are activated when betting on a love relationship.

Finally, Guapas, a story that follows Mónica, Mey, Lorena, Laura and Andrea. The five women meet during a protest in front of the financial institution where they had their savings, which suddenly closes and takes the money from all the deposits. Thus, from one day to the next, the dreams and projects of each one arecutted: Monica’s restaurant has to close its doors; the possibility of buying a house for her parents vanishes for Lorena; Mey’s family inheritance disappears; the capital that Laura had saved with her partner (to undergo fertility treatment and start a family) vanishes; and Andrea and her husband lose all their assets and are left in ruins. Seven years after that fateful day, the five of them have become close friends, but they have not yet been able to recover from that loss, and they are trying to put themselves in order, both economically and emotionally.
