Raya Group: A decade of growth and learning

Ramazan Yirmibeşoğlu, founder and CEO

This 2023 is the 10th Anniversary of Raya Group, and during MIPCOM, the company is highlighting its successful recent stories. In addition to its linear TV offer, the company is currently including digital content and series with fewer than 20 episodes, tailored for OTT platforms.

Ramazan Yirmibeşoğlu, founder and CEO, talked with Prensario about their anniversary: ‘Actually, from 2013 until now, we’ve come a long way. When we started, concepts like the market for Turkish series in this field were just emerging, and we learned both by trial and error, paving the way and learning to walk that path. I can still say that there’s much more to learn. In the era we live in, everything changes and develops very quickly, and to stay in the flow of our industry, we’re always researching the world’s and regions’ sociological structures, markets, newly emerging content, channels, and VOD platforms. The main goal of our company is to position the content we have in our catalog in the right place and gain the trust of our customers. We value every customer. Raya Group Distribution is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and for 2023, our goal is to continue providing excellent service to our existing customers, expanding the market, and of course, gaining the trust of new customers to expand our customer portfolio, just like in previous years’.

Influencer, drama/romance/crime

As for MIPCOM, Raya Group is pushing #Influencer, a drama/romance/crime series of 20 episodes which follows Leyla, a very well-known social media influencer, gets involved in a scandal with Emre Kunda who is a very popular football player. Leyla unjustly finds herself in the center of a bullying campaign held by the press and society after Emre Kunda refuses to comment or deny the ongoing allegations against her. The series is produced by TR 40 33 Productions.

Also Limits, a psychological drama, which story is located on a high-school in Istambul, where senior students are unaware of what will happen to them after a few hours while getting on the bus waiting for them in the garden of the school to go on a camping trip, which is a performance project before graduation.

And the still promoting the huge success of The Sultan and Khan, the epic series which have been sold to Bosnia, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapour, and the CEI regions.

Regarding the main goals in the future years, Yirmibeşoğlu said: ‘Certainly, we are committed to expanding our catalog each year. However, a crucial aspect of our strategy is enhancing our analytical capabilities to ensure that we offer the best and most suitable content to broadcasters worldwide. While we have demonstrated our expertise in this regard, we recognize that the world is in a constant state of change, requiring us to adapt continuously’.

And added: ‘In the second part of our journey, productions play a significant role at Raya Group. We collaborate closely with our sister company, Silver Entertainment, to craft compelling stories that resonate with audiences across the globe. This partnership allows us to create fresh narratives and content that captivates audiences worldwide’.
