RCN Studios: strategic evolution in Europe

RCN Studios is highlighting its ongoing transformation and enhanced market position as it prepares for a significant presence at key summer content markets in Europe, including Content Warsaw, NEM Croatia, NATPE Budapest, and Conecta Fiction this June. The company, traditionally known as a broadcaster, is now emphasizing its expanded role as a multiplatform content producer.
Alexander Marín, head of RCN Studios, articulated the company’s current standing. ‘This is just the beginning of what comes next’, stated, noting that four years of investment and dedicated work have led to an ‘enhanced market position, not just as a broadcaster but as a powerhouse of successful multiplatform content’. He pointed to the presence of SVoD executives and the talent brought from Colombia, the U.S., and other countries as confirmation of their evolution, describing it as ‘a pivotal moment in the company’s history’.
Juan Pablo Posada, VP of Content Production, underscored the company’s increased output. ‘We are currently producing eight projects annually in our studios’, confirmed. He detailed recent productions: in 2024, they delivered two fiction series and two reality shows for RCN, along with Manes, Betty: 20 Years Later, and Top Chef for Amazon Prime, and an additional project for Netflix. Looking ahead, Posada also indicated that 2025 will see new seasons of these shows, stating the company has the capacity to maintain or even increase this volume.
And Andrés Posada, Production Manager, provided insight into their operational strategy. He highlighted the studio’s specialization in ‘producing more with less, delivering top-tier projects at a fraction of the standard cost in developed markets’. Furthermore, he noted a commitment to sustainability, exemplified by ‘replacing traditional power generators with solar panels’. The studio is also leveraging tax incentives, such as Colombia’s 25% reimbursement program, a strategy intended to drive efficiency and growth.
