Rewind Networks reinforces footpring in Asia

Rewind Networks, one of the main new media companies in the Asian television landscape, has made significant strides in expanding its presence in the Philippines, the Maldives, and Papua New Guinea. This growth has been bolstered by partnerships with local affiliates, including Accion, MediaNet, and Digicel PNG, facilitating the distribution of its popular channels—HITS, HITS MOVIES, and the newly launched HITS NOW.

Accion, a long-standing affiliate of Rewind Networks, has been instrumental in distributing HITS and HITS MOVIES since 2014 and 2019, respectively. Accion is include actually on HITS NOW in its channel lineup, further enhancing the viewing options for its subscribers. This expansion is a continuation of Accion’s commitment to providing quality entertainment to local cable operators across the Philippines.

Meanwhile, in the Maldives, MediaNet has embraced HITS NOW as part of its offerings since April 1. This addition allows Maldivian audiences to access a broader range of general entertainment programming, including HITS and HITS MOVIES, thus enriching their viewing experience. The inclusion of HITS NOW in MediaNet’s roster signifies a strategic move to cater to the diverse entertainment preferences of viewers in the Maldives.

Digicel PNG, a new affiliate partner for Rewind Networks, launched HITS MOVIES past April 1, marking the company’s entry into the Papua New Guinea market. Digicel PNG offers TV satellite services throughout the country, introducing its audience to a selection of blockbuster films spanning several decades, from the 1960s to the late 2000s. This partnership not only expands Rewind Networks’ reach but also enhances the entertainment options available to viewers in Papua New Guinea.

Avi Himatsinghani, CEO of Rewind Networks, expressed enthusiasm about these developments, stating, ‘We are so excited to expand our channels’ presence with existing affiliate partners in the Philippines and the Maldives, and to establish a strong start in a new market, Papua New Guinea’. He emphasized the importance of these partnerships in strengthening Rewind Networks’ position in Asia’s competitive media landscape.

Looking ahead to 2024, HITS NOW is set to feature a lineup of branded reality and talent shows, including popular titles such as Survivor, America’s Got Talent, American Idol, and Shark Tank. The channel aims to deliver these programs within 36 hours of their U.S. broadcast, ensuring that viewers receive timely content. New reality series like The Traitors and Race To Survive: Alaska will also debut, along with drama series such as Fire Country and Sullivan’s Crossing. For game show enthusiasts, HITS NOW will offer titles like The $100,000 Pyramid and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, while those seeking lighter fare can enjoy comedies like Young Rock and The Goldbergs.

HITS MOVIES is also set to present a rich slate of films in 2024, featuring beloved titles like Alvin and the Chipmunks, Catch Me If You Can, and Jurassic Park, catering to a wide range of cinematic tastes.

Rewind Networks operates three channels—HITS, HITS MOVIES, and HITS NOW—across 13 countries, reaching over 24 million households in Asia. These channels provide a carefully curated selection of programming sourced from major studios, including Sony Pictures, Paramount, and NBCUniversal. This diverse content strategy has positioned Rewind Networks as a significant player in the region’s television market.
