Roku will launch Quibi’s content on May 20

Thirty of Quibi’stitles will be available through The Roku Channel since May 20, with the celebration of the Streaming Day by the company. The platform will initially premier 30 with plans to release all 75, all them free of charge for USA, Canada and UK, with ads inserted in between individual short-form episodes.

Last January, Roku announced the exclusively licensing Quibi’s library with at least 30 of them being premier next week, during The Streaming Day on May 20. The so-called “Roku-Originals” include shows such us Reno 911 S7, the cooking documentary Shape of Pasta, Chrissy’s Courtand Kevin Hart’s Die Hart. In the US, The Roku Channel is available on iOS, Android, select Samsung TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and the web, in addition to Roku’s own hardware, while in the UK, it’s available on Sky Q and Now TV, as well as Roku devices.

Roku’s network, which currently offers +250,000 movies and TV episodes and reaches tens of millions of viewers, said Quibi’s short-form nature (10 to 15 minutes) provides ‘natural breaks’ for advertising. Coinciding with the release of the new shows, Roku is discounting several of its players:in the US, the Streaming Stick Plus will be discounted by USD 10, the Streambar and Roku Ultra will be discounted by USD 30, and the Roku Express will be discounted by USD 5. The deals will be active between May 16th and 29th.
