RTVE launches two new thematic digital channels. Cuéntame cómo pasó will have a thematic streaming channel completely dedicated to the most successful Spanish series. And starting Monday, October 23, RTVE will launch a new digital documentary channel.
“RTVE Cuéntame”, starting on Thursday the 19th at 6:00 a.m., just after the premiere of what will be its last season, Cuéntame cómo pasó restarts on the RTVE Play platform from the first episode, broadcast in September 2001. They will follow, without interruption, the installments of the 23 seasons of this fictional content that has accompanied viewers for more than two decades.
The new digital channel will imply a displacement of the episodes of La Promesa, which have been broadcast on the digital channel of the same name, to the RTVE Época channel, where they will occupy their prime time starting on October 18.
RTVE Docs, Starting Monday, October 23 at 12:00 p.m., RTVE will launch a new digital documentary channel. It is called “RTVE Docs” and will also be available on the RTVE Play platform. It is a channel dedicated exclusively to the documentary genre and in which content on the most diverse topics will be broadcast. There will be series and individual pieces, cinematographic documentaries and series that have had a successful run on free-to-air television. The RTVE brand, the great documentary factory, is the seal of quality with which this new digital channel of the Corporation starts.
Among the contents of “RTVE Docs”, travel series such as Diario de un nómada, España entre el cielo y La Tierra, ‘La Ruta de Samarkand or Pipper en Ruta. Also travel series with gastronomic overtones such as Un país para comérselo, Comerse el mundo or Las Rutas D’Ambrosio, among others.
Other themes will have a place such as science with Qué Animal! and the future, the environment and History. Series such as Ingeniería Romana, Reduce Tu Huella, España, El Siglo XX en Coloror unitary documentaries such as ‘Las sinhat’, ‘Chicote, the barman of the stars’, ‘1918, the Spanish flu’, ‘The poor man’s cabaret’ or ‘Imperfect robbery’, among others.
The biographies of figures from the world of culture, such as Clara Campoamor. Un Voto para despertar, will have a prominent position, also Ole Ole, Lola Flores, Chicho Ibáñez Serrador. Historias para recordar, Luz Casal, En Muchos Tiempos, Nico Bravo, En Vivo, Tip y Coll. Regardez la gilipolluá or Paloma Chamorro. Icónica Chamorro, which are part of emblematic programs such as ‘Imprescindibles’ and many other creations from RTVE‘s great factory of self-produced documentaries.
These two new thematic channels join the existing ones outside of DTT and that are only accessible from RTVE Play: “RTVE Somos Cine”, “RTVE Crimen” and “RTVE Época”. All of them reinforce the digital offer of the free platform and represent new steps in the strategy of creating linear digital FAST channels. A pioneering initiative in Spain on public television and whose purpose is to increase and improve the distribution of the best RTVE content and bring high-quality productions closer to the viewer. A powerful digital bet that takes advantage of the opportunities offered by digital transmission to reach a greater number of viewers, as well as adapt to new audiovisual consumption habits.
