At the closing of the 2023 edition of MIPTV 2023, RX France announced that in-person participation this year increased by 22% compared to last year, and released some figures: 5,650 participants from 86 countries, including 5,510 delegates in person in Cannes, an increase of 1,000 on-site participants, compared to 2022, and 120 delegates joining the market via the MIPTV online platform.
According to the organization, this increase in the market share ‘underlines a strong sales climate and content acquisitions, growing business from the international FAST business and a positive response to the new reformatted design and exhibition calendar at the Palais des Festivals introduced in 2022’.
‘We have found the right format and scale for MIPTV and how it works’, said Lucy Smith, Director of RX France‘s Entertainment Division and Director of MIPTV and MIPCOM CANNES. ‘The increased attendance and strong display confirm that the design and approach are paying off for everyone’, she added.
‘The benefits to all of having the global industry in one place to discover, connect and acquire are magnified by trends such as the rise of third-party licenses, the pace of growth of FAST Channels internationally and the continuing hunger and need for, co-production partnerships: themes that we will continue to develop at MIPCOM CANNES next October,’ he added.
Separately, she also offered details about MIPCOM 2023, which will once again be held at the Palais des Festivals from October 16-19, 2023 with MIPJUNIOR returning to its pre-market venue from October 14-15 at the JW Marriott.
The organization confirmed that 80% of the exhibition is already sold and that the main studios, platforms, and global content groups will be in Cannes in October, both at the Palais des Festivals and in outdoor locations.
New plans for MIPCOM 2023 include: The Producers Hub & Lounge, the heart of co-production, development, and market financing, will move to a new and larger location on Croisette Beach to accommodate more capacity and a larger program.
Meanwhile, she announced that a new edition of the successful FAST & GLOBAL summit will also take place, taking advantage of the popularity of the inaugural international focus of the FAST business at MIPTV.
Finally, RX France commented on the reopening of the Riviera 9 sea view exhibition hall in response to the market rebound and increased demand for premium exhibition space at the Palais des Festivals.
‘MIPCOM will once again be the largest global gathering of television and entertainment executives on the planet’, Lucy Smith added, ‘confirmations have been coming in early, plans are ambitious and all roads lead to Cannes this October’.
Likewise, RX France confirmed that the next edition of MIPTV will take place from April 15 to 17, 2024. And it referred to the tenth-anniversary edition of MIPCancún, which will take place from November 13 to 16 of this year.
