STARZ announced that its premium international streaming service, STARZPLAY, will change its name to LIONSGATE+ in 35 countries, as it emerged the company is focused on spinning off the studio. The company offered a premier and a celebration of the name change in Mexico, where attended Superna Kalle, President of International Channels at STARZ, press and acting talents.
Kalle, who oversees the operation of the service, landed in Mexico City, where she welcomed the press, their commercial clients along with the talent of the recents original series in Spanish to celebrate the name change of the international platform, followed by previews of episodes and multi-panel discussions.
The executive offered a round of Q&A moderated by Gaby Cam, and included the participation of some of the stars of the original series in Spanish on LIONSGATE+ such as Eréndira Ibarra, Tessa Ía (Yellow), Ilse Salas, Juan Manuel Bernal, Natasha Dupeyron (Miss 89), Teresa Fernández, María de Nati and Nacho Vidal (Nacho).
‘Our commitment to deliver bold, curated stories that push boundaries and defy expectations remains the same’, said Kalle. ‘We have built strong relationships with our viewers and look forward to continuing to bring them premium storytelling as LIONSGATE+’.
LIONSGATE+ subscribers have access to a vast library of exclusive premium content including STARZ original series that premiere globally the same day as they do in the U.S. Like the political thriller, Gaslit, and flashy period dramas like Dangerous Liaisons, along with the series set in the universe of the successful Power franchise. LIONSGATE+ also hosts Spanish-language original series such as the critically acclaimed drama Señorita 89, the sci-fi thriller El Refugio, and the crime drama, Express, and offers some of the most sought-after premiere series on television, including the series The Great and the action-thriller series Gangs of London, plus a huge collection of fan-favorite blockbuster movies added to the platform every month.
