StudioCanal reshapes leadership with key changes

StudioCanal, the production and distribution arm of Canal+, has announced two key leadership appointments, effective since March 1, as part of its international growth strategy.

Alex Hamilton, CIO

Alex Hamilton has been named Chief International Officer, a newly created role that will see him overseeing direct distribution and international operations across StudioCanal’s key European markets—including France, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland—as well as Australia and New Zealand. Hamilton will also be responsible for the StudioCanal Kids & Family division, which manages the Paddington IP.

Hamilton, who has served as CEO of StudioCanal UK since 2020, brings extensive experience from his tenure at Entertainment One (eOne), where he played a central role in growing the company’s UK film division and expanding its international operations.

Succeeding Hamilton as CEO of StudioCanal UK is Katheryn Needham, who was recently promoted to Managing Director of the UK division and previously led StudioCanal Kids & Family as Interim CEO. Needham has been instrumental in integrating the licensing, merchandising, and retail business of the Paddington brand into the StudioCanal group and played a key role in launching StudioCanal Presents, a streaming channel showcasing the studio’s film library on Prime Video and Apple TV+ in the UK.

Anna Marsh, CEO of StudioCanal and Deputy CEO of Canal+, highlighted the strategic significance of these appointments, emphasizing Hamilton’s role in advancing StudioCanal’s global ambitions and Needham’s expertise in strengthening the UK business.
