For Lionsgate+, the idea of renewing itself and having new content after the rebranding of STARZPLAY, goes with the hand of specific regions, and Latin America remains one of the most important to continue with, according to Superna Kalle, president of International Channels at STARZ, now Lionsgate+.
‘Lionsgate+ is a unique service where we are very interested in drama, so everything our service offers is beautiful, handpicked, cutting edge and unlike anything out there. We are premium, so we are very inclined towards various themes such as sex, crime, drama, and we have everything for everyone’, said the executive during the presentation in Mexico of the renewed OTT.
She stated that the differentiator of Lionsgate+ is that they are focused on a defined audience. ‘So we don’t have reality (content), we don’t have children’s programming. What we do is drama, and we do it very well. So we feel like a lot of other players are everything to everyone. We are adults, drama, avant-garde, premier’.
Kalle stated that one of the main markets for the firm is Latin America: ‘It is one of our most important markets, and so far we have had great success with viewers, as well as with our distributors, and we are working with the best producers, and our growth expectations are great’.
And she announced that in their offer they will have a greater amount of locally produced content: “The community loves our content and we hope to continue growing throughout Latin America and continue in Mexico. There will definitely be more local production in Mexico, definitely’.
