The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) and South Korean production company B.A. Entertainment have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM). The agreement establishes a direct framework for cross-border collaboration across the content value chain, targeting co-production, investment matchmaking, and international distribution to expand the footprint of Taiwanese and Korean original stories in the global audiovisual market.

The partnership aims to integrate the production capabilities and financial structures of both territories. B.A. Entertainment brings its established track record in genre-driven storytelling and real-event adaptations, having produced successful franchises like The Roundup and series such as Big Bet and Revenant. To structure these cross-border operations, the initiative also involves Taiwanese partners 1 Production Film Co. and Money Entertainment Investment Co., leveraging their regional IP development expertise and three decades of financing experience to facilitate joint projects from early-stage development to global rollout.

Highlighting the industry’s response to this regional integration, TAICCA hosted the networking reception “Taiwan Night”, drawing over 500 executives, buyers, and programmers. The event served as a business hub for key regional players, attended by representatives from South Korea’s CJ ENM, KOFIC, and Barunson E&A, alongside Japan’s Toei and TBS, and Thailand’s GDH 559. Sue Wang, Chairperson of TAICCA, noted during the event that international partnerships and resource integration remain essential strategies for positioning Taiwanese content within the broader global distribution ecosystem.

Beyond the structural agreements, Taiwan maintained a substantial commercial presence at the ACFM. The Taiwan Pavilion hosted over 100 companies and 235 projects seeking publishing, pitching, and co-production opportunities. This market push translated into specific industry recognitions: the Taiwanese project Uncle secured the CathayPlay Award at the Asian Project Market (APM), while media-tech startup imCore was awarded Most Promising Startup at the InnoAsia tech pitching session. Furthermore, the IP Cat Rental Company was selected for the Busan Story Market and secured an invitation to Indonesia’s JAFF IP Connection to explore adaptation opportunities.

Moving forward, the MOU provides a concrete pipeline for Taiwanese IPs to leverage South Korea’s established global distribution networks, while allowing Korean studios access to Taiwan’s creative talent pool and co-financing structures. TAICCA expects to maintain its role as a central hub for market matchmaking, aiming to consolidate the region’s production capabilities and secure a stronger competitive position for Asian content in the international marketplace.
