TAICCA Showcases 93 Taiwanese Productions at MIPCOM to Boost Global Reach

The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) made a powerful impact at MIPCOM 2025, held from October 13 to 16 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. Aiming to strengthen global ties and promote Taiwanese creativity, TAICCA organized a Taiwan Pavilion that featured 93 productions across drama, animation, factual, and children’s content. This initiative reflected Taiwan’s ambition to position its audiovisual industry on the global stage.

On October 14, the Pavilion hosted a networking event that attracted nearly 50 professionals from 18 countries, including key representatives from TV Asahi (Japan), BBC Studios (UK), and major international media companies. The gathering created new opportunities for collaboration and exchange, reinforcing Taiwan’s growing reputation as a creative hub in Asia.

“These on-site exchanges highlight the strength of Taiwan’s creative industries and pave the way for future co-productions,” said TAICCA Chairperson Sue Wang. She noted that TAICCA’s continuous participation in leading global content markets such as MIPCOM, SERIES MANIA (France), and ATF Singapore is part of the agency’s broader strategy to boost international visibility for Taiwanese creators and productions.

The Taiwan Pavilion presented a wide range of content showcasing the diversity and maturity of Taiwan’s television industry. Among the highlights was Bloody Smart, the first live-action adaptation of Junji Ito’s work in Asia. Another centerpiece was The Outlaw Doctor, a much-anticipated drama boasting 15 Golden Bell Award nominations.

Other titles included A Time, directed by Tsao Jui-yuan and starring Jerry Yan, Chen Yi-han, and Ning Chang, portraying four decades of friendship and social change in Taipei. The teen crime drama Lonely Stamps, Empty Soufflé, featuring Chang Hsiao-chuan, Chen Yi-han, and Tien Hsin, brought a new level of intensity and realism to youth storytelling in Taiwan.

Animation and Factual Content Gain Attention

Taiwan’s animation and factual programming also took the spotlight. Oji-san on the Road follows Singaporean-Malaysian actors Christopher Lee and Frederick Lee on a humorous travel journey filled with cultural exploration. In children’s animation, Grandma and Her Ghosts 2: Baby Power stood out after being selected for the Partner Pitches section at the 2023 Annecy International Animation Film Festival and winning Best Pitch at the Taipei Film Academy Filmmakers’ Workshop.

Chen Hsin-I, General Manager of Lusasa Animation Co., highlighted that attending MIPCOM provided “valuable opportunities to share professional insights and better understand global trends in children’s animation, particularly the growing influence of AI and streaming platforms.”

John Liaw, CEO of Brilliant Animation Studios, added that TAICCA’s support has enabled Taiwanese studios “to showcase their creativity to international audiences and open new paths for cooperation, demonstrating the confidence and ambition of Taiwan’s animation industry.”
