TBS’ Totally Outnumbered launched at MIPTV

Japan’s Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc.has launched at MIPTV its brand-new physical format Totally Outnumbered, a very easy to adapt format offering humor and competition values for the whole family.

Japan is one of the biggest TV markets in the world (bigger than Germany or France), and there is huge competition among networks, which drives innovation, especially in the format area where the country has made the difference with Sasuke Ninja Warrior or Takeshi’s Castle. Or the historical Fun TV with Kato-chan and Ken-chan, globally well knownas America’s Funniest home Video.

Now, at MIPTV, the company has launched a brand-new show based on well-known concepts: at Totally Outnumbered supreme experts of various fields challenge a large group of people in original competitions. ‘It’s a unique programming offering for family entertainment, humor, and values about competition’, described Mayu Sunaga, Director of International Content Development Department, TBS.

Shunsuke Fukaya, format development head of the Japanese network, added: ‘It is a format easy to understand and to adapt. It’s wild, but it is also bride, funny and enjoyable, built under the concept of All vs. one and one vs. all. It is very easy to adapt and localize in any country, including any popular game’.

The presentation at the Majestic Hotel, in charge of Andrew Eborn, President of Octopus TV and TNC MediaTed Baracos, included a live performance that has received applause from all the participants, including agents, buyers, and trade press.
