Testimonials at LAVS 2022: the return to markets and business twists

VS Next featured the first pack of buyers’ testimonials at LA Virtual Screenings 2022, offering their impressions of today’s content market. They highlighted the return to the physical markets and the new business twists.

Ruediger Boess, producer, Constantin Film Produktion (Germany): ‘With its pros and cons, the industry and the markets are getting back on track. I was in Cannes at the Open, and it was a real pleasure to meet up with old faces and speed up some business. It remains to be seen how much content there is on offer, but it is exciting to see how the industry has been reactivated’.

Isabel Rodríguez, programming director, TVN (Chile): ‘After three years of absence in the markets, we are finally returning to the fairs. We are looking for different scripted formats for our audience in genres, and as usual, we are also looking for telenovelas’.

Elisa Aquino, VP sales & Marketing, Universal Cinergia (USA): ‘One of the trends we have seen in the dubbit market is the boom in partnerships with streaming platforms. We are having new clients for services in languages such as Portuguese or French. , who are needing to have content in their language to boost their services. I think we are experiencing one of the best moments for our company’.

Girish Dwibhashyam, VP Strategy, IN10 Media Network (India): ‘As one of the first services to offer documentaries, today we offer thousands of documentaries on our platform and we have users from over 150 countries. We have several content production and supply partners, and we stand out for having one of the most extensive and curated catalogs of nature, travel, adventure and biographies, history, science and technology documentaries. The trend we are seeing is that there is a growing demand for documentaries on geopolitics, crime and technology’.
