TFOU, the children’s programming block of the TF1 Group, is partnering with Ellipse Animation to develop a new 2D-animated series, Animal Jack. The series is based on the successful comic book by Belgian writer Kid Toussaint and illustrator Miss Prickly, which has sold over 1 million copies. The project is designed for children aged 5 to 8 and consists of 52 eleven-minute episodes.

The central character is Jack, a 10-year-old boy with the extraordinary ability to transform into any animal he chooses, allowing him to leap like a panther or soar like a buzzard. Jack is also mute, communicating through gestures, expressions, and the understanding of his friends. His difference becomes a strength that enriches the daily life of his town and helps him form unique bonds with those around him.
Yann Labasque, Director of Children’s Programming at TF1 Group, stated that the series promises to be an endearing story. He said, ‘With his unique character as a mute and magically gifted boy, Jack promises to become an endearing hero who teaches us about diversity, disability, and bravery”. Labasque added that the new series «opens the door to incredible stories of action and adventure, where imagination and emotion come together’.
Lila Hannou, Director of Development and Strategy at Ellipse Animation, commented that adapting Animal Jack is a creative adventure that celebrates ‘friendship, solidarity and acceptance of difference’. She noted that the series promotes mutual aid, imagination, and learning through experience, while encouraging every child ‘to express their uniqueness’.
