The Wit announced the titles that are part of its classic list of the season’s highlights regarding fiction on Fresh TV Fiction at MIPCOM 2023.
The conference presented by the CEO of the consultancy, Virginia Mouseller, highlighted several global productions, from all continents, but above all she mentioned two trends that she detected in the last 6 months: appetite for true crime narratives and true-based series and also the science fiction, and a notable growth of live-action. Especially with true crime, she said the genre has increased by 39% in recent months.
Some of the titles she mentioned were: The Reckoning, which premiered last month in UK, and was produced by ITV Studios; also The Long Shadow, which premiered in September in UK and was distributed by All3media international; Samber, which is set to premiere next year in France, under the distribution unit of Federation Studios; French Roulette, which premieres next year and will be distributed by France TV Distribution; Stonia, launched early this month in Finland and Sweden, and distributed by Beta Film; The Vanishin Triangle, from Ireland and USA, distributed by Eccho Rights; Indal the powerful drama of Dori Media; and Buenos Chicos, produced and distributed by Pol-Ka in Argentina.
