The Wit unpacks global fiction trends: Spanish and Turkish dramas lead international sales

The Wit presented its traditional Fresh TV Fiction conference during the third day of MIPCOM, showcasing new scripted titles from around the world. The 2025 list featured a strong presence from the Spanish-speaking and Turkish markets.

From Spain, the selection included several notable dramas. Las hijas de la criada, a fiction from Atresmedia, was highlighted as an adaptation of the successful novel by Sonsoles Ónega. Atresmedia executives noted that the inclusion of the series in The Wit’s list provides further international endorsement for the group’s fiction. The report also featured La encrucijada, an adaptation of the Turkish drama Brave and Beautiful produced by Secuoya Studios and Ay Yapim for Antena 3. Additionally, the police drama Neuer, distributed by Onza Distribution, was recognized.

In the Turkish market, the drama Halef, distributed by Inter Medya and produced by Most Production, was featured as one of the key titles in the distributor’s MIPCOM catalog.

The list of Latin American and Hispanic market entries included the Brazilian original miniseries Días Perfeitos (Perfect Days) from Globoplay, and the Colombian Netflix series Estado de Fuga 1986.

Other international titles highlighted by The Wit included the vertical drama Breaking the Ice. Further selections spanned global distributors and genres: Red Alert (Keshet International), Golden Boys (Viaplay Content Distribution), The Big Fuck Up (About Premium Content), Cooper & Fry (Studio TF1), I Fought the Law (All3Media International), In Flight (Fremantle), Riot Women (Mediawan), and Puberty and Shadow Leaks (Beta Film).
