As part of TIFFCOM 2025, the 6th Tokyo Gap-Financing Market (TGFM) will introduce the first-ever TGFM Awards Ceremony, celebrating the most promising international co-production projects. The event will take place on October 31 at Midtown Hibiya, marking a milestone for the Tokyo-based market that has rapidly become one of Asia’s key platforms for connecting film and animation projects with potential investors and production partners.
This year, 23 projects (17 live-action and 6 animated features) from Japan, Asia, and around the world were selected to participate. The market continues to grow as a bridge between Asian and global film industries, providing opportunities for producers, financiers, and creative teams to develop international partnerships.

Launching the TGFM Awards
For the first time, TGFM will honor outstanding projects through its Awards Ceremony, with prizes recognizing excellence and supporting future production. The main distinctions include: Tokyo Project Award (JPY 2,000,000) – celebrating the most promising Tokyo-based project; Asian Gen-Z Award (JPY 500,000) – recognizing emerging young talent from Asian universities and graduate programs; White Light Award – offering post-production services valued at USD 25,000, provided by Thailand-based White Light Post Production; Kongchak Award – granting post-production support worth USD 25,000 from Kongchak Studio, Cambodia.
These awards aim to empower creators and strengthen collaboration between Asian production hubs and international partners.
TGFM Morning Sessions
In addition to the Awards, TGFM will also host the “TGFM Morning Sessions”, a series of lectures designed for producers seeking to expand into international co-productions. These sessions will feature representatives from Cannes, Venice Markets, and Beyond, who will share insights and practical guidance on accessing funds, grants, and market opportunities. The initiative reflects TGFM’s role not only as a financing platform but also as an educational and networking space for the global film community.
The sessions will run during the second and third days of TIFFCOM, primarily targeting TGFM participants and Japanese producers interested in building connections abroad.
