In 2022, TOONZ Media Group consolidated the distribution and pre-sales of its products, placing a strong emphasis on new projects, without forgetting its productions that returned with new episodes.
Prensario talked with Bruno Zarka, Distribution, Syndication & Feature Films Divisions, who mentioned his plans in the Asian market and his expectations for ATF 2022.
The company, which stands out in the international market for its slate and production strength in the animation and live-action segment, is expanding its presence, partnering with platforms and new players: ‘We have been discussing the advance sale of productions in the Asian market. After a year of working together with our clients, taking care of their vision and needs, we are also providing them with answers in terms of programs already produced and new productions in which we have just incorporated key elements of storytelling with diversity, authenticity and a mix of suitable talents’, Zarka highlighted.
Toonz Media Group closed strategic alliances with industry leaders in Asia, which led it to introduce unique animated series to the market: ‘We managed to lead in the region through the introduction of new programs such as SunnySide Billy, created by the late Olivier Jean Marie (Oggy and The Cockroach or Zig and Sharko), but also with the reboot of iconic action shows like Swat Kats: Revolution with the Tremblay brothers and Greg Johnson (Pacific Rim The Black)’, expressed.
Additionally, the company is currently creating character-driven shows with a unique level of diversity and inclusion that seek to appeal to both Asian and international audiences.
The company has a catalog of animated films for the fall-winter season, including titles from Gold Valley, such as Ella the Little Sorcerer, which offers an incredible BO in Canada and Poland, among other markets, as well as the title Academy of Magic.
Finally, Zarka referred to the added value of his slate, in relation to the animation market. The executive highlighted Toonz Media‘s robust library, considering it the most ‘solid and secure’ with programs covering the 3-16 age group. ‘In addition to having launched our MyToonz platform, which has products for the preschool segment, such as Bubble Bath Bay and Zoonicorn; we also have comedy content like Car and Keet, Pajama and Speed Racer; plus a new slate of one-of-a-kind productions crafted with some of the best talents like Keith Chapman, Greg Johnson, Josh Selling, David Dias, and Olivier Jean Marie‘, added.
Toonz Media Group is participating in ATF with a full slate of animations for theatrical and non-theatrical distribution, including newly produced titles like JG & BC Kids and Bartali’s Bicycle (in production with Lynx & Rai Ragazzi), which is based on the Gino Bartali true story. In addition, the company is showing some of the titles that it will bring to Kidscreen 2023 and the Berlin Film Market 2023.
