TV Asahi: new formats and dramas at MIPCOM 2024

TV Asahi, one of Japan’s prominent broadcasters, returns to MIPCOM 2024 with a fresh lineup of dramas and formats for international distribution. Leading the drama category is Destiny, a 9-episode suspense-filled romance series about Kanade, a prosecutor who is forced to confront unresolved mysteries from her past, including her father’s death and a tragic event from her university days. As old relationships resurface, including an encounter with her former boyfriend Masaki, Kanade embarks on a journey to uncover the truth.

Another standout is Believe, a crime drama also spanning 9 episodes. It tells the story of Riku, an architect whose life takes a dramatic turn after a construction site accident leads him to cover up the truth, resulting in imprisonment. Desperate to escape and reunite with his cancer-stricken wife, Riku seeks to clear his name in a gripping narrative that explores loyalty, betrayal, and redemption.
