Unifrance’s Daniela Elstner: ‘I think is a very interesting transformation time’

With a strong presence of executives from Asia, Rendez-Vous celebrates its 29th edition, with close to 200 buyers and 160 strategic sales executives, the Unifrance market has been standing out for its strong commitment to the finished products business and the enormous promotion of the audiovisual made in France.

‘It is also a very important RDV because of the timing of the meeting, September is a very good month because it is the last quarter and buyers and sellers can prepare the last 4 months of the year’, expressed to Prensario, Daniela Elstner, general director, Unifrance.

The company has been undergoing a transformation for some years, focusing on its dedicated market, which moves to the month of January and will take Paris as its headquarters. Additionally, the organization appointed former TF1 Group CEO Gilles Pélisson as Chairman.

‘I think it is a very interesting transformation time. In the last two years, we had a President and a vice president and now we have just one single president. It is a good thing for an association because if you want to create and to see and to be clear with one strategy its much more easy if you have only one person because one person has the overall vision. We are also working very closely with our members to define our strategy’, commented Elstner.

In addition, the exec mentions one of the goals as for now, is the improvement of the communication side either for cinema or TV. ‘What we started to do the last year is to be much more clear about who talks to. For example, four years ago our website, before we have a bit of everything but it was not clear, it had a little bit for the general public, a little bit for the professional, a little bit of everything and we needed to be very clear with to which public we create each content. Now we have a very professional website for the journalists with all the information’.

The organization, also seeks to go ‘wider’, reaching the public who watches the top of the series made in France, such as Call My Agent or Lupin and creating new ones that promote the country.

One of the newest is the launch next month of their first European Film Festival, and to promote it they are going into the gaming world, integrating young generations. ‘We are connecting with influencers also to promote they will be playing in the “Minecraft worlds” recreated in the game for this Festival, inspired by the films but also they will be watching the short films inside the game’.
