ZDF Enterprises will also co-produce S2 of the drama and catastrophe series Sløborn and will again be responsible for its global distribution. S1 of the ZDFneoriginal series dealt with the outbreak of a virus that rampaged worldwide on the island Sløborn, and the inhabitants fight to survive the catastrophe. In season 2, audiences will experience the world after its collapse.

Shooting for the new season will take place in the spring of 2021. Wotan Wilke Möhring, Emily Kusche, Alexander Scheer, Aaron Hilmer, Adrian Grünewald and Lea van Acken will once again appear in front of the camera directed by Christian Alvart and Adolfo J. Kolmerer (screenplay by ArendRemmers and Christian Alvart).
After many residents of Sløborn had died of the fatal pigeon flu, the island was evacuated. But a small group of people refused to be evacuated and hid on the island, for fear of being exposed to an even greater risk of infection on the mainland. A volatile mix of different characters, which threatens to explode as they become more and more separated from the comfort and conveniences of civilisation. When faced with the blackout, the battle for food, protection and information gets harder and harder, and it soon becomes clear just how thin the varnish of morality, education and humanity really is.
Sløborn S2 is also produced by Syrreal Entertainment (producers: SigiKamml, Christian Alvart and Timm Oberwelland) in co-production with ZDFneo, Tobis (Peter Eiff, Theo Gringel and Tobias Seiffert), Nordisk Film, Denmark and ZDF Enterprises (Robert Franke). Doris Schrenner is on the ZDF editing team.
