ZEE Entertainment has had an eventful year, successfully venturing into the international market with its first co-production, Valentina, My Special Love, a drama series that has already been presented to international buyers at MIPCOM and MIP Cancun 2024.

Ashok Namboodiri, Chief Business Officer, Manjyot Sandhu, Senior Vice President, International Digital Marketing & Distribution, both at Zee Entertainment (India); Rosalind Rotundo, Vice President, VIP 2000 TV (USA); Irwin Inman, Head, Distribution, Asia TV USA, Zee Entertainment; Roxana Rotundo, CEO, VIP 2000 TV (USA)

The series is the result of a co-production with VIP 2000 TV and currently leads ZEE’s international content offering. Filmed across India and Mexico, Valentina tells the heartfelt story of a young woman with autism who is also a prodigy in the field of technology.

This modern Latin American telenovela, filmed in the natural landscapes of Jalisco, Mexico, focuses on themes of diversity and inclusion, making it appealing to a global audience. The plot follows Valentina, a young woman raised in the small town of Chiquilistlán by her adoptive mother. After her mother’s death, Valentina moves to Guadalajara, where she faces both challenges and opportunities. In this new environment, she discovers love, forms new friendships, and confronts envy and rejection from those who struggle to accept her.

The original story is adapted from a novel by ZEE Entertainment. According to Ashok Namboodiri, Chief Business Officer, the writing team worked on tailoring the story into a telenovela where a young woman with autism learns what it means to fall in love. ‘Autism is a global topic that we all need to consider’, he remarked.

The cast of Valentina includes Rebeca Herrera in the lead role, supported by Cynthia Klitbo, Mauricio Novoa, Macarena Oz, Katie Barberi, Ana Karen Coy, and other talented Mexican actors such as Daniel Medrero, Eduardo Villalpando, and Azucena Evans.
