Lucy Smith, director MIPTV & MIPCOM at RX France announced on Sunday, April 3 that this year MIPDrama winner of “Coup de Coeur” was the German series House of Promises.
Organized at the Debussy Theater for the seventh time, the main event on Sunday gathered 150 buyers fromthe Western Europe, Nordics, MENA and Latin America that had an exclusive “first look” to 10 global series. After the conclusion of the screenings, the acquisition and programming executives selected House of Promises (12x’60).
The majority of dramas have come from the Nordic countries, while the remaining titles were from Western Europe and USA/Canada. 50% of them were already commissioned by European OTTs like Elisa (Finland), RTL+ (Germany), Stan (Australia) and Viaplay (Pan-European), as well as broadcasters such as SVT (Sweden), ZDF (Germany), Servus TV (Austria) and MBC (MENA).
This 1900 historical drama House of Promises was produced by X-Filme Creative Pool for RTL+ and Vox, and has Beta Films in charge of international distribution. It is a high-end and a ‘stunning drama’ that it captures the hopes of a dazzling decade and the dramatic turn of an era from the perspective of a young woman and a Jewish family, owner of a state-of-the-art department store at Berlin’s Torstrasse 1, it was described by the distributor.
