Lux Vide: growth and evolution

With almost 30 years in the industry, Lux Vide, Italian production company founded by Luca and Matilde Bernabei, continues to expand. After joining Fremantle, the company continues to develop premium content with a global profile.

In an interview with Prensario, Bernabei describes the moment the company is experiencing, highlighting content and production strategies.

‘Our 2022 will be marked by five TV series on air and six TV projects in production. On the business side, we are keeping our bonds tight with the national broadcasters in Italy (RAI and Mediaset), whilefurther developing our relationships with international streaming platformsto produce ambitious projects’.

After becoming part of Fremantle, the executive it called a ‘consistent move’ with their internationalization strategy: ‘Fremantle group guarantees a greater capillarity to our distribution objectives, greater negotiating power, and a network of people to support us in our goals.

On a creative side, it allows Lux Vide to have a constant and open dialogue with other production companies from Italy and from the rest of the world, which means networking, brainstorming and sharing ideas, advising each other on the different projects, or accessing talent. and exclusive IPs’.

On the content side, Bernabei says their strategy as on one hand, to keep delivering our recurring series: ‘we are already in production with the second season of Good Morning Mom! (Mediaset) and we are working on the seventh season of Sister Angela’s Girls (RAI) and on the seventh season of One Step from Heaven (RAI)’.

On the other hand, the executive explains that they are ‘pursuing our strategy with international projects that can travel all over the world, both for broadcasters and streaming platforms’: ‘with genres ranging from crime procedural to rom-com, we are writing the second season of Blanca, the story of a blind profiler, which has been an international hit, and the third season of DOC, the story of a doctor who loses his memory and tries to pull his life back together, distributed internationally by Sony… I must confesses that our writers are quite busy’.

Bernabei also comments about the second season of Devils will be soon on air at The CW, a TV series that showcases their ability to write for different targets and to equally compete in the American marketplace.

‘Our 2022 will end with the on-air of two TV series: Violet like the Sea, which we’ve already been selling in pre-sale, starring Turkish actor Can Yaman, and I Hate Christmas a rom-com for Netflix’. They are also producing a big project called Apnea for a streamer.

‘I must say that all our TVseries, regardless of the commissioner, are characterized by aspirational characters, universal values ​​and a happy point of view on the world’ he added.
