RTVE’s María Jesús Pérez: ‘We have increased the number of potential sales at MIPTV’

María Jesús Pérez, International Sales Director of RTVE, described the company’s participation at MIPTV as ‘very good’. The executive highlighted the good influx of business and the presence of its partners and clients.


‘This year we have come to MIPTV with half the space and half the team because we know that MIPCOM is stronger, but I think that our approach to this event has been correct, we have made good use of the time, we have strengthened relationships with some acquaintances and we have also increased the number of potential sales a little and the truth is more than satisfied’, mentioned.
In terms of content, the executive mentioned that since they launched their streaming platform, they have focused on both the linear and digital segments, promoting their strong catalog, made up of original content, as well as the prominence of their international channels and the distribution of RTVE Play+. ‘Although our focus is content oriented for TV, the arrival of our platform in other countries has been very positive. We have a product that was born digital and that is produced expressly for the platform. In fact, we have just closed agreements for some web series that have not been broadcast on the open screen, only digitally, but they are web series that are aimed at young audiences, and they are content of short duration. They are for consumption by young people who are used to this type of content and there is a certain demand for this type of product.
Among the trends they are observing, the executive specified that Clan‘s first live-action production, Los Argonautas, is generating a lot of interest: ‘Not only because of its fresh and current theme but because of its enormous production values’, she specified. Other notable ones are the third season of La Caza, and the third season of HIT.
