The 2D animation studio and the production company specializing in the adaptation of video games for film and television, announce their collaboration on a new comedy/adventure series.
Somewhere Animation (Mediawan Kids & Family), the company founded and directed by Arthur Colignon, and Marla Studios, the production company based in Los Angeles, announce their collaboration on Temtem, the new series based on the massively multiplayer creature collection game, developed by Spanish studio Crema and released in 2020 on PC and consoles.
Temtem brings a fresh perspective and revitalizes the style. Sharing key values with the Japanese genre, such as friendship and self-improvement, the game stands out for foregrounding the benefits of teamwork, not just simple duos. Moreover, it not only brings depth to its characters, but also makes them fun and charming. Temtem’s slogan is: “What makes us different makes us stronger together”.
The 26-episode, 22-minute comedy-adventure series, aimed at ages 6 and up, will be written and directed by showrunner Josh Hamilton, writer of the award-winning Avatar: The Last Airbender, which received the Kids’ Choice Award for Best Animated Series in 2008.
‘We are thrilled to collaborate with Marla Studios and Jean Julien Baronnet on this ambitious project and introduce the vast universe of Temtem to the world. Temtem draws inspiration from the Japanese genre while incorporating American writing, infusing it with freshness and modernity. Children will love experiencing the thrilling adventures of the characters. Through them, they will be able to collect Temtem and engage in exciting battles that will fuel their imagination’ saidArthur Colignon, Producer and Founder of Somewhere Animation.
‘We want to renew the genre with human characters coming from an incredible variety of culture interacting with mystical creatures in a way never seen before. It’s not every day that you get to have, as your best friend, a temtem who can attack with the power of a blizzard or summon lightning! With this show we want to balance the big, fun and epic elements of this adventure in a total new universe. Somewhere Animation is the best partner to achieve this goal!’ added Jean Julien Baronnet,Founder of Marla Studios.
