The Mediapro Studio’s MIPCOM slate: drama, mystery, and more

The Mediapro Studio showcases an impressive series lineup at MIPCOM 2024, reflecting its continued success in international co-productions and storytelling. One of the key highlights is Quiet, a gripping thriller set in Barcelona during the March 2020 lockdown.

The company is also having a new appointment at the market where is presenting its expansion plans in the United States and Canada. This will be during the Keynote that will take place in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals, on Wednesday, October 23 at 11:15 a.m.

The Quite, thriller

The series is co-produced with 3Cat and premiered on TV3. The thriller delves into a series of brutal murders targeting the homeless, keeping viewers on edge through its tense eight-episode arc.

Another notable title is Celeste, a new series produced in collaboration with Movistar Plus+ and 100 Balas. This satirical drama follows Sara Santano, a dedicated treasury inspector, as she embarks on her final career mission: proving that the global superstar Celeste has spent enough time in Spain to owe millions in taxes. The series offers a humorous take on celebrity culture, bureaucracy, and unexpected challenges.

Also The Head, now in its third season, continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Filmed across various locations in Spain and set in the Sahara Desert, the latest season maintains the claustrophobic intensity of its predecessors. Directed by Jorge Dorado, the series tackles environmental themes while adding new layers of mystery and danger, with a fresh murder sparking another round of intrigue.

Meanwhile, The Famous Five, co-produced with the BBC and Moonage Pictures, brings adventure and camaraderie to a younger audience. After the success of its first season, the youth series continues with daring explorations and new challenges for its group of fearless young heroes.

Lastly, Las Bravas, that tells the inspiring story of a second-division women’s soccer team in Mexico. Led by a former soccer star turned reluctant coach, the series explores themes of redemption, passion, and the bond between a father and his estranged daughter, set against the backdrop of the vibrant Mexican soccer scene.
