With a long history in the distribution and production of internationally renowned films and series, and with titles to its credit such as REC, Mientras Duermes, or the Spanish film 100 Metros by Marcel Barrena, Filmax is attending MIPCOM to present its catalog, as well as to highlight two major new releases.
Matador (2024) is a 95-minute documentary that follows the life and career of Ilia Topuria, a mixed martial arts champion. Directed by Giampaolo Manfreda, the film traces Topuria’s journey from his childhood in war-torn Georgia to his arrival in Spain, and his rise to become one of the top fighters in the UFC. The titles was produced by Iñigo Pérez Tabernero, Ilia Topuria and Israel Ocaña.
On the other hand, Dating in Barcelona (2024), a romantic comedy series offers a different tone and explores the complexities of modern relationships. Spanning two seasons with 12 episodes each, the series is set in the vibrant city of Barcelona and revolves around various individuals navigating the world of online dating. Directed by Nely Reguera, Gemma Ferraté, and others, the show captures the excitement, fears, and hopes that accompany first dates in the digital age. The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Anna Castillo, Natalia Tena, and Ricardo Gómez, who bring to life the stories of people searching for love, sex, or companionship. Each episode showcases unique protagonists and the particular challenges they face, whether it’s overcoming loneliness, building connections, or handling relationship expectations.
