Mediaset Distribution, the sales arm of Mediaset Italy, attended MIPCOM Cannes 2024 with a diverse lineup of new scripted and unscripted titles that aired on its signal. The company presented this slate to international buyers and distributors at the MFE’s stand R7.H3.
One of the highlights on this edition of the market is the second season of hit entertainment show Io Canto Generation, that is currently on air at Canale 5 each Wednesday. In fact, past October 9 achieved 2.4 million viewers with an audience share of 18.1% and more spin-offs have been announced by the group.
Scripted Highlights
• The Corsaro Brothers (I Fratelli Corsaro)
Based on the novels of Salvo Toscano, this detective series follows two brothers, Fabrizio and Roberto, as they navigate crime and personal turmoil in Palermo. The intense family dynamics and the intricate crime-solving make this 4×100’ show a thrilling watch.
• The Good Family – Second Season (Storia di Una Famiglia Perbene)
Continuing the powerful family drama set in 1990s Bari, this 16×50’ series returns with more twists as Maria De Santis fights to protect her community from criminal organizations. The new season introduces new antagonists and personal dilemmas, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
• Alex Bravo
A light crime series led by the charismatic Marco Bocci, «Alex Bravo» blends humour and action. The 12×50’ show follows a talented but unconventional cop whose personal life is as chaotic as his cases. With a dynamic cast and a witty tone, it promises a fresh take on the crime genre.
• Mr Mom
A comedy series of 20 eps. in which writer Silvano, a widow with three children, unable to take care of his kids after signing a good contract with a publisher, meets a nice neighbor, a young Spanish soap actress…
Unscripted Lineup
• Io Canto Generation
The much-anticipated return of the popular kids’ singing competition, «Io Canto Generation,» brings together talented young singers aged 10 to 15. Coached by celebrities, these children compete for the chance to record a song with a prestigious radio network. This 6×150’ show is packed with musical performances and emotional moments.
• Max Working
A reality show with a comedic twist, Max Angioni, a popular stand-up comedian, takes on various real-world jobs in a bid to prove his versatility. Each episode culminates in a stand-up performance where Max humorously reflects on his experiences, making this 4×110’ series a unique mix of job reality and comedy.
• Back to School
In this entertaining game show, children become teachers and celebrities become students. The 11×150’ show challenges celebrities to pass elementary school exams, with kids guiding them through the process. It’s a fun and light-hearted look at education and competition in a family atmosphere with lots of emotions. The format has been adapted in Germany (SAT.1 for two seasons).
