ABC Japan has entered a development partnership with South Korean production company Imaginus to create scripted dramas for Japanese broadcaster ABC TV. The collaboration will involve regular workshops held in Osaka, Tokyo, and Seoul, bringing together the production expertise of both companies.

Imaginus, founded by former Studio Dragon CEO Jinnie Choi, has gained recognition for its upcoming Netflix romantic comedy Can This Love be Translated?. The partnership with ABC Japan marks a significant step in fostering creative exchange between South Korea and Japan.
Jun Iwata, director of content production at ABC TV, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, ‘I strongly believe the creative chemistry between the two companies will create a totally new style of drama, neither simply Korean nor Japanese, and this new creation will deliver a story that attracts firstly Japanese audience, but all over the world also’.
Choi echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of cross-cultural collaboration. ‘I feel it is very significant that both companies were able to establish a partnership between Korea and Japan through content. Based on the know-how of both companies, we will create stories that can deliver new and differentiated emotions to Japan viewers’.
