Serious Kids bring award-winning «My Life» to global market

Serious Kids has secured worldwide distribution rights for a curated collection of films from the multi-award-winning BBC series My Life, ahead of MIPCOM 2025. The half-hour documentaries, commissioned by BBC Children’s and Education for CBBC and BBC iPlayer, have garnered significant international acclaim, including BAFTA, International Emmy, and Prix Jeunesse awards.

The series features personal stories told from a young person’s perspective, frequently addressing difficult subject matter in an unique and inspiring way. Serious Kids collaborated with the BBC and independent producers like Big Deal Films, Drummer TV, and Nine Lives Media to package a collection of standout films from the last 15 years, making them available to the international market for the first time through a specialized children’s distributor.

Genevieve Dexter, Founder and CEO of Serious Kids, confirmed the market launch: ‘We are finally ready to launch the series at Mipcom Junior after over a year’s work on bringing this together’. Dexter noted that the films are already well respected globally, and expressed enthusiasm about the potential response from the international broadcast community, hoping to add new films to the collection if successful.

Patricia Hidalgo, Director of BBC Children’s & Education, stated that sharing these ‘uplifting, homegrown stories is key to showcasing British culture’ and that taking them to MIPJnr ‘helps build cultural understanding across borders’. Cat Lewis, CEO & Executive Producer at Nine Lives Media, added that sharing stories is ‘such an important way to communicate across different cultures,» believing young audiences will «enjoy and learn from this My Life series’.
