Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and MIPCOM CANNES confirmed that The Miniature Wife, a high-concept dramedy produced by Media Res (The Morning Show, Pachinko), will receive an exclusive screening for international buyers on the market’s opening night, Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Palais des Festivals’ Grand Auditorium.
The series stars Emmy® and BAFTA-winner Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Sian Clifford (Fleabag). Inspired by Manuel Gonzales’ short story, the show follows a couple whose relationship spirals into a power struggle after a technological mishap causes the husband to shrink his wife.
Created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner (Boardwalk Empire), the series features Banks and Macfadyen as both leads and executive producers, with Greg Mottola (Superbad) directing the first two episodes. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Macfadyen, Fagbenle, and Clifford.
‘The Miniature Wife is unlike anything else at the market’, said Mike Wald, Co-President of Distribution & Networks, SPT, highlighting the strong early buzz following its L.A. Screenings debut.
Lucy Smith, Director of MIPCOM CANNES, added: ‘Getting a first look at exceptional new series is what buyers expect, and SPT delivers on that promise’.
The show will premiere on Peacock in 2026, with SPT handling global distribution.
