Mediawan Kids & Family and El Reino Infantil partner on digital-first animated series «Wadoo»

Mediawan Kids & Family, the European studio focused on children’s content, is co-producing a new digital-first animated series, Wadoo, with El Reino Infantil, the leading Spanish-language kids’ network on YouTube. This partnership represents a significant move into developing animated intellectual property (IP) based on major digital successes, pioneering the convergence between traditional production and digital deployment.

The series, Wadoo, is a 39-episode x 7-minute comedy adventure designed for preschool audiences. The show takes children on musical journeys guided by Wadoo, a curious young dragoness, and her friends. Each adventure blends discovery, friendship, and respect for nature, concluding with an original song celebrating the day’s lesson.

The project employs a strategic soft-launch strategy starting with short-form content created for social media and released on El Reino Infantil’s channel. These shorts will utilize AI tools to enhance artists’ creative capabilities while maintaining full creative control. This initial phase aims to test and refine the characters, tone, and concept development using audience analytics and community engagement insights.

The full 39×7′ series is scheduled for release in 2026. It will combine YouTube‘s digital reach with international broadcast distribution managed by Mediawan Kids & Family Distribution. The ultimate goal is to build a comprehensive transmedia franchise, following the model of global hits like Miraculous and La Granja de Zenon.

Julien Borde, President of Mediawan Kids & Family, stated the collaboration is a major strategic step in combining the best of digital creativity with production excellence. He added that Wadoo ‘perfectly embodies Mediawan Kids & Family’s approach: delivering original, high-quality content tailored to today’s viewing habits’.

Roberto “Kuky” Pumar, CEO of El Reino Infantil, emphasized the collaborative nature of the project: ‘Both companies have proven they understand today’s audiences and know how to create the content they seek’. He noted that from this convergence comes Wadoo, a project ‘designed for a present where digital and physical coexist in a phygital universe’, concluding that ‘today, success is collaborative’.

Executive producers for the series are Nicolas Fisch (Mediawan Kids & Family) and Ylka Tapia (El Reino Infantil).
