MADD Entertainment (Turkey) promotes at Digital MIPTV the strong catalog built after a successful 2020. Led by Ateş İnce, general director, the distributor was very active during the pandemic adding new titles every four months, among which the romance and family series stand out. Six scripted series, four of them successful Turkish adaptations from global blockbusters, stand out.
First, A Woman Scorned, an adaptation of the British series Mr. Foster, produced by Medyapım & Mednova with stars like Cansu Dere and Caner Cindoruk. When Asya met Volkan, she was alone in her own world. Her parents passed away when she was quite young. Although they left her a hefty inheritance, Asya had no family to call her own. Volkan changed all that after he proposed to her and just after she finished medical school, they settled in Volkan’s hometown: a small city near İstanbul. On this foundation, they built a happy marriage and raised their son, Ali in this loving household Asya had always dreamed of.
Flames of Fate by Ay Yapim premiered on November 5 on Show TV with a 12% share on AB and 13% on 20 + ABC1 and which has already aroused the interest of broadcasters from all. It is based on the original story Bazar de la Charite with 7 million viewers on TF1 (France): it is a period drama set in 19th century Paris, where more than 100 women died in a fire at a charity ball.
In line with comedy, Love is in the Air premiered on FOX Turkey, produced by MF Yapim. A young flower seller faces a rich heir when the girl goes to study abroad and loses her scholarship because of him.
Nehir story begins in an orphanage, where she meets Zerrin, a con-woman, as a teenager. Zerrin takes her under her wing and teaches her how to survive, and most importantly, how to swindle. The duo works flawlessly until one day while searching for their next target on a Matchmaking app, Zerrin notices Nehir get defensive about a user named, “Nazim.” After an argument ensues, Nehir decides to leave her life behind and meet Nazim, a man she has become increasingly fond of. The bad news for Nazim is that Nehir believes him to be Tarik, a handsome young man, due to their exchanges of photos while chatting.
Adaptation of the French series Call My Agent, The Agency is an Ay Yapim drama with touches of comedy that follows a girl who tries to reconnect with her father many times, despite his rejections, to get a job at the agency of advertising you work for.
Last but not least is A Miracle, the Turkish adaptation of the Korean scripted format know globally as The Good Doctor in the USA. The Turkish version shows Ali, a young autistic-savant medical school graduate who had a difficult upbringing. He is quite the genius but has trouble communicating with people because of his condition. His biggest dream is to become a surgeon.
