CGTN expands international footprint on FAST segment

China Global Television Network (CGTN), the international arm of China Media Group (CMG), officially launched three new Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channels this month, bringing its total number of free international channel brands to five.

The three new services—CGTN Global Biz, China Travel, and Discovering China—are now broadcast across 15 international platforms. According to the company, this distribution network reaches nearly 200 million viewers.

The programming structure for the new channels consists of six hours of original content daily, looped to create a 24-hour feed. These additions follow the network’s initial entry into the FAST market in 2023, when it launched the CGTN English Channel and the Documentary Channel.

The company stated that this expansion marks a «crucial step as CMG explores new business formats in the expansion of its international communications strategy».
