ABC brings premium 4K docs and animation to ATF

ABC Commercial is arriving at ATF 2025 with a diverse catalogue of premium Australian content, placing a strong emphasis on blue-chip natural history, social documentary, and educational children’s programming.

The distributor’s factual slate is headlined by Killer Whale: Australia’s Megapod (1×60’), a high-definition 4K documentary narrated by actor Richard Roxburgh. Featuring insights from marine scientists and utilizing advanced filming technology, the project offers a rare glimpse into the strategic capabilities of the ocean’s apex predators.

Complementing the marine focus is Dr Ann’s Secret Lives (6×30’), produced by the ABC. In this series, Dr. Ann Jones takes viewers into specific ecosystems—from rainforests to coastlines—to analyze the survival behaviors of six distinct species. The episodes break down the adaptation strategies of creatures such as sea snakes, orangutans, bull sharks, and pangolins.

On the social commentary front, ABC Commercial is presenting End Game (available as 3 x 60’ or a feature length 1 x 60′). The series is fronted by Indigenous Australian and former professional athlete Tony Armstrong. Moving beyond standard anti-racism rhetoric, Armstrong conducts a global investigation into discrimination in sports, seeking actionable solutions. The production features interviews with international sporting figures, including football legends John Barnes and Rio Ferdinand, as well as representatives from the NBA and Angel City FC.Finally, the distributor is targeting the preschool demographic with the award-winning animation Fizzy & Suds. With two seasons available (Series 1: 26×15′ and Series 2: 26×11’), the show follows two animated bubble siblings who possess an endless curiosity about the real world. The series aims to make everyday topics—ranging from ballet and pizza to dinosaurs—accessible and engaging for young minds.
