Waves Film Bazaar returns for 19th edition with Pan-Global lineup and ATF Partnership

The Waves Film Bazaar return for its 19th edition, unveiling a robust lineup of feature films and documentaries that emphasizes a pan-global narrative. This year, the Co-Production Market will present 22 feature projects and 5 documentaries, showcasing stories from a wide array of nations including India, France, the UK, Canada, the USA, Russia, the Philippines, and Singapore.

The selection stands out for its linguistic diversity, featuring projects in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Manipuri, Tangkhul, Nepali, Malayalam, Haryanvi, English, Gujarati, Ladakhi, Konkani, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Russian, Sanskrit, and Odia. Filmmakers will pitch these projects to an audience of international and Indian producers, distributors, financiers, and sales agents during the Open Pitch session, setting the stage for one-on-one collaboration meetings.

The market lineup strikes a balance between emerging talent and established industry veterans. The edition features acclaimed figures such as Kiran Rao, Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra, Devashish Makhija, Ira Dubey, Sarita Patil, and Shaunak Sen, as well as BAFTA award-winning director Ben Crichton.

The documentary segment includes five projects covering genres such as Arts, Music and Culture, Environment, Sustainability, Education, Women’s Movement, Gender and Sexuality, and Anthropology. The specific documentary titles selected for the market include Colours of the Sea, Devi, Nupi Keithel, Simhastha Kumbh, and The Maharaja and Me.

WAVES Film Bazaar also announced a partnership with the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF). As part of a cross-exchange initiative, the Co-Production Market Feature will include the project titled Gloria.

Additionally, three projects have been selected under NFDC’s Handpicked Focused Projects for the Co-Production Market Feature: Shamed, Smash, and Tiger in the Lion Den.
