Yango Play details 2026 roadmap: AI integration, Crunchyroll bundles, and originals

Roman Shimansky, CEO

Yango Play is advancing its operational strategy for 2026 with a focus on consolidating its position as an AI-driven ‘super app’ for MENA region. The platform is integrating video streaming, music, and gaming into a single ecosystem, supported by new distribution partnerships and algorithmic personalization tools.

According to the company’s roadmap for this year, the service is introducing technical updates to its voice assistant, expanding its library through third-party bundles, and launching a slate of original productions tailored for the Ramadan season.

Content strategy: originals and strategic bundles

In terms of programming, Yango Play is prioritizing the production of 15-episode original series. The confirmed slate includes titles such as Al-Ghawy, Al-Nos, Wlad Al-Shams, and Gawdar 2. This lineup is supplemented by an exclusive selection of Arabic series designed specifically for the high-viewership period of Ramadan.

To diversify its catalog, the platform has established strategic alliances with international content providers. These agreements allow for the integration of Crunchyroll for anime content, as well as dedicated sections for STARZPLAY and Noor Play within the same subscription model.

Additionally, the service is adapting to mobile consumption trends with the introduction of Mini Dramas, a short-form format optimized for quick viewing. The Live TV offering has also been expanded to include over 32 channels, covering networks such as Rotana, as well as news and children’s programming.

AI integration and ‘Muslim mode’

A central pillar of this year expansion is the deployment of artificial intelligence to curate the user experience. The platform utilizes advanced algorithms to personalize recommendations across music, movies, and games based on user context (e.g., driving playlists or quick gaming sessions).

This technology extends to Yasmina, the AI-based voice assistant. The updated «Lite» version creates playlists and manages smart home commands. For the Ramadan period, the platform has introduced a ‘Muslim Mode’ powered by Yasmina. This feature includes specific functionalities such as prayer reminders, automatic notification silencing, and the playback of spiritual supplications (duas).

Expansion and Gamification

On the distribution front, Yango Play has officially launched on PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, adding to its availability on Smart TVs, mobile devices, and a new optimized desktop version. In Egypt, a strategic partnership with the Vodafone Egypt Partner Program now provides the operator’s customer base with access to the platform and simplified payment options. The company is also collaborating with Mondia to support its market expansion.

To increase user retention, the app has implemented gamification mechanics. These include “Weekly Spin Rewards» and a system where users earn virtual coins by watching content or completing specific actions within the application.

As part of the broader Yango ecosystem, the entertainment platform operates alongside Yango Ride and Yango Delivery, aiming to provide a cohesive, interconnected user experience.
