MIFA Pitches 2026: 48 global animation projects shortlisted for Annecy market

The official selection for the 2026 MIFA Pitches offers a comprehensive world tour of the animation industry during the upcoming Annecy market, scheduled for June 23–26. This year, 48 projects were shortlisted from a staggering 882 submissions representing 95 nationalities. Alongside these, nearly 130 Partners Pitches will be presented, solidifying the event’s reputation as a vital launchpad for global animation.

Just as the Cité internationale du cinéma d’animation prepares to open its doors to create a unique showcase for the art form, the MIFA Pitches continue to serve as a crucial incubator for supporting and nurturing projects from their conceptual stages through to audience release. According to the organizers, this year’s 48 shortlisted works offer a vibrant and emotionally resonant range of styles and aesthetics, reflecting the incredible diversity of talent, perspectives, and storylines driving the industry today.

The global footprint continues with dedicated delegations from Black Sea countries, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, East Africa, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. Notably, for the first time in the market’s history, Palestine will also be represented among the delegations.

In addition to the pitches, the market will host a special session dedicated to feature films supported by the Annecy Festival Residency in recent years. Scheduled for Tuesday, June 23 at 3:15 p.m., the presentation will highlight the significant progress of these initiatives and reveal exclusive footage from highly anticipated projects, including Heirloom, Hanta, The Bird Kingdom, and Insectario.
