Taiwan made a strong impression at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Mifa, reinforcing its growing role in the global animation industry. Organized by TAICCA, the Taiwan Pavilion brought together 41 companies and 61 projects, attracting international buyers, producers, and distributors through a series of high-profile networking and pitching events.
One of the festival’s highlights was «Toon Up Taiwan!», where five animation projects developed through a nine-month collaboration with GOBELINS Paris were presented to an international jury. The top honor went to Hwa’s Going On, a stop-motion project by director Pin-Yu Chang, making it eligible for up to NT$3 million through TAICCA‘s Creative Content Development Program. Judges praised its artistic quality, original characters, and poetic storytelling.
Another milestone came with the debut of the TCCF Prize at the Mifa Pitches. The inaugural award was presented to Achugogo: Tale of the Spring Chaser, a French-South African-American co-production, creating a new gateway for international projects to collaborate with Taiwan’s animation sector.
The new TAIWAN SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE also introduced five market-ready productions, including YAYA’S BAND, FLAMIE RANGERS, and PURINGAU, generating strong interest from buyers seeking licensing and co-production opportunities.
According to TAICCA Chairperson Wang Shih-szu, international partners are increasingly recognizing Taiwan not only for its creative projects but also for its reliable production ecosystem, positioning the country as an attractive hub for long-term global animation partnerships.
