ABS-CBN highlights What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim and more titles
ABS-CBN, the leading content provider in the Philippines, closes the year with new partnership agreements with several media companies and platforms for the broadcasting of its content. The company is attending ATF 2023 to meet once again with Asian clients in Singapore and have the opportunity to show them their new titles. ABS-CBN will first introduce the Philippine remake of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim and also highlights new titles such as Dirty Linen, Can’t Buy Me Love and Deceit, as well as Senior High and Everybody Sing!.
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim is an adaptation of the hit 2018 Korean Romantic comedy series. The adaptation is faithful to the original romantic comedy genre of the Korean series, but the Filipino version is extra dreamy. They also tweaked the characters and certain plots to be more palatable to the local audience. The show is a wholesome love story with lovable characters, memable scenes, and heartwarming moments. Even though it’s a fairytale romance between a secretary and an executive, the mood of the series is still real, grounded, and relatable.
Aside from the rom-com feel, it is also giving light family drama, a dash of suspense, and intense sibling rivalry. The mysterious backstory adds intrigue without losing the lightness, while the light family drama and sibling rivalry are carefully woven into the main love story.
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim follows Kimberly Liwanag, a trusted secretary who after fulfilling the obligations of her beloved family, resigns from her narcissistic boss to pursue her dream of becoming an orphanage social worker. This turns Brandon Manansala Castillo’s world upside down. Brandon is the perfectionist vice president of PowerPharma, the number one pharmaceutical company in the Philippines. He is convinced he can stop secretary Kim from leaving. But despite Brandon’s attempts to make her stay, Kim is undeterred. As she completes her 30-day resignation notice, Kim unmasks the man behind the narcissistic persona and begins to fall in love with Brandon.
Other of the main titles is Dirty Linen (50×45’). The story follows a woman named Alexa, who, burdened by the sudden death of her mother at the hands of a prominent family known as the Fieros, adopts a new identity as a maid named Mila to infiltrate their wealthy household. There, she hopes to uncover every one of the family’s darkest secrets, and seize the long-awaited opportunity to deliver a slice of justice on a shiny, cold platter. But Alexa is not alone. She is aided by three others who also lost loved ones working under the Fiero family. But despite their solidarity and teamwork, they soon run into an obstacle in the form of a man named Aidan, the Fiero’s troubled golden son to whom Alexa is attracted.
Also, ABS-CBN present Can’t Buy Me Love (Original approx. 70×40-45’, Premium approx. 20×45-60’). This series follows Bingo, a hardworking young man who earns a living by selling everything and anything he can under the sun. One day, he chances upon Caroline, a young lady about to be abducted. In order to save her, he offers the kidnapper all of his savings. Caroline, however, despite being the youngest daughter of the moneyed Tiu clan, cannot easily repay him for personal reasons. Not unexpectedly, the two-clash due to their starkly different backgrounds and cultures. But as they learn more about the other, they soon realize they value the same things that wealth cannot buy: loyal friendships, a close-knit family, and genuine love.
Other of the main titles is Deceit (Original 40×60’, Premium 20×60’). This series tells the story of Victor Lualhati, a former boxer turned seaman, who knows how to overcome obstacles and persevere through tough times. But when he discovers a message to his wife Juliana from an unknown man, he’s faced with a challenge he never saw coming. The deeper he digs and the more he discovers about the wife he thought he knew, he is forced to confront his own demons and shortcomings, questioning his worth as a husband and a man.
In addition, ABS-CBN distribution unit, headed by Wincess Lee presents Senior High (Original 40×45’, Premium 20×45’).
