ABS-CBN ramps up deals to expand content viewership worldwide

The Philippines leading content provider started the year with multiple new partnership agreements with various media companies and platforms for the airing of its content in new markets and territories.

ABS-CBN has inked deals with Star Times TV, the largest digital TV operator in the Sub-Saharan region, and PT Vidio Dot Com, Indonesia’s over-the-top video streaming platform, to bring more of its programs to the global market.

The company led by Carlo L. Katigbak continues adding stories well received by international critics, and the English-dubbed version of the hit mystery-drama series Viral Scandal is currently being aired in 41 Sub-Saharan countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Seychelles, and Ivory Coast. ABS-CBN entered a content localization partnership with Indonesia’s PT Vidio Dot Com to air more Filipino series like Love Thy Woman, Mea Culpa, A Mother’s Guilt, Wansapanatym and Maalaala Mo Kaya, its longest-running drama anthology.  

An Inconvenient Love

ABS-CBN’s romantic film An Inconvenient Love was among the most-streamed non-English films worldwide during its premiere week while the hit series 2 Good 2 Be True was consistently part of the Top 10 TV shows list on Netflix Philippines. 

The Philippines leading content provider has long been recognized as a reliable foreign content provider and is becoming the premier source of high-quality Filipino programming in over 50 territories all over the world. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN and GMA Network, formerly TV network rivals, have made a historic deal to co-produce the series Unbreak My Heart, which will be aired on GMA and Viu this year.

In addition, ABS-CBN Music has opened new markets and opportunities after signing a worldwide publishing agreement with Warner Chappell Music Philippines granting administration rights to its entire song catalog. ABS-CBN also entered a partnership deal with SYOK of Astro Radio to launch MYX Radio, MORe, and TeleRadyo on Malaysia’s leading digital radio platform. 

The company received multiple recognitions since the start of the year, including an ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Golden Arrow Award from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) for good governance. In addition, ABS-CBN was named Digital Media Network of the Year at the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards 2023 given by the Trinity University of Asia and the Most Outstanding Media Company at the 5th Gawad Lasallianeta by the De La Salle Araneta University. Several programs, shows, and personalities of ABS-CBN were also awarded by different organizations showing the deep trust, support, and loyalty of Filipino viewers.
