Electric boosts its international business

Electric Entertainment is gaining attention in the international content market. Having started out as another independent American producer and distributor of films and television series, it now manages a strong slate of hit series—Leverage: Redemption, The Ark, Almost Paradise—that stream on leading platforms and consider the company for partnerships abroad.

Dean Devlin, CEO, said: ‘Basically, we continue to evolve but always maintain the basic concepts that made us grow. I started production and distribution in 2011, and for Electric we focused on series that allowed people to escape from their daily lives, with genres such as action, thrillers, science fiction, and some comedies. Then we improve production, both in the number of titles and production levels. We took popular brands like Leverage and created the spin-off sequel to the series’ sequel, tapping into big American platforms like Amazon Freevee and SYFY Channel’.

‘We have both episodic and serialized series, to feed all audiences. And, very important, although we have big-budget series in prime time, we have continued with the same customer service that we had in our origins, taking care of the details, providing a lot of information to the platforms to better present the contents: rating, data of talent, international performance, etc. This is highly appreciated by our clients, who are looking to boost themselves. Sonia Mehandjiyska is in charge of international distribution’, added

‘On an international level we are doing well. We have good business in Europe, in some Asian territories like India, we are growing in most regions, like Latin America and the Middle East. Independent but important content is now in high demand globally, because it combines the best of both worlds. T: the product of a major, the marketing rules of an independent and genres that help escape the usual. The basic concepts work globally’, remarked Devlin.

‘What can we say about Electric in the future? A big announcement is coming, we’ll talk about it soon. But above all we have many things to follow: our AVOD/FAST channel, the ElectricNow app, 360 license developments, co-productions, alliances, etc. a lot to do in 360 licensing developments, international alliances, co-productions, synergies with big brands, special regional players, etc. The current company is only 4 years old, we are at the beginning. The intention, for the times to come, is to remain innovative, inspiring and hopeful, both for our partners and our clients’, concluded.
