Globo: globally launch of Once We Were Six

Globo offered the «Exclusive Launch Showcase» about its newest historical series Once We Were Six at the LA Virtual Screenings 2021. The drama is one of the company’s outstanding highlights during the event and was presented for the first time in the international market.

The series is a classic family drama with 50 episodes, that follows the Lemos family from a matriarch who struggles to maintain unity and harmony among her children and husband, despite all obstacles of life. The showcase was presented by Marina Melo, Sales Manager, and Ana Brancato, Research and Knowledge Specialist at Globo, who showed the attributes and themes of this soul-stirring story, which was a rating leader on its slot in Brazil.

Angela Chavez, writer of the telenovela, explained that the story is based on the original telenovela written by Silvio de Abreu and Rubens Ewald Filho and inspired on the best-selling Brazilian literature book of Maria Jose Dupré, a classic that has already been adapted several times in the course of the years. ‘The series portrays real characters in a classic drama that will touch the hearts of the audience and bring identification to each of them’, she underlined.

Once We Were Six was directed by Carlos Araujo, and the production is divided into three phases: decade of the 1920’s, 1930’s and finally, 1940’s and shows the story of the Lemos family, whose matriarch Lola is an obstinate mother and who is willing at all costs for her family members to be kept united amidst social and economic difficulties at the beginning of the 20th century.

‘I think this drama has all the elements of classic drama that today’s melodrama audience is so fond of. We project great achievements for this great blockbuster that has begun to generate interest in the market’, added Brancato and Melo during the showcase.

Chavez emphasized what the public must expect from this version: ‘In addition to a more contemporary dramaturgy, we have more complex characters, which we examine carefully. Lola, although she is still a character of the 1920’s, is a little ahead of her time, with more current thought’.

The production is part of the company’s lineup during LA Virtual Screenings 2021, which can be seen here: https://virtualscreenings.com/VS-LA/exhibitor/globo/
