Kanal D International spans new drama and established series at MIPCOM

Kanal D International is presenting a broad scripted catalogue at MIPCOM, led by current productions and extending through family sagas, romantic comedies and long-running series. The global business arm of Turkish broadcaster Kanal D, part of Demirören Media Group, works across production, distribution and broadcasting. This 15-title selection shows the range of its drama offering.

Two productions in progress open the selection. In Dignity, Mehmet and Simay fall in love across a divide of wealth and family expectations, while their fathers’ attempts to protect them threaten the relationship. Torn Apart follows 17-year-old Aras to Bodrum in search of his missing brother. His clashes with the powerful Akkaya family, and his feelings for their daughter Leyla, make that search increasingly dangerous. In Sins and Roses, Serhat discovers that his wife Berrak has kept a devastating secret, but an accident leaves her in a coma before he can learn the truth. A florist named Zeynep becomes his unexpected ally in pursuing it.

Wrongful imprisonment drives two further stories. The Family Burden sees Melike leave prison after 20 years for a crime she did not commit, determined to find the real killer and reconnect with the daughter raised by her sister. In Secret of Pearls, former teacher Azem searches for the children separated from him during his own incarceration, while new relationships complicate his attempt to rebuild his life. Broken Promise, a Portuguese adaptation of Ruthless City, moves the Rocha family into a wealthy household after a secret pact and a fire; young Verónica is promised to Miguel, the family’s heir, as the arrangement exposes tensions between the two worlds.

The youth drama Daylight follows Gece when her family’s move to Foça interrupts her plans for university and music. There she meets surf instructor Özgür, whose responsibilities toward his brother echo her own family situation. In Farewell Letter, Aslı and Mehmet’s romance reopens the unresolved history between their parents, Alanur and Ziya, three decades after a mysterious separation. That Girl centers on Zeynep, who dreams of becoming a social media influencer while caring for her father and struggling with poverty; a job for a successful influencer brings her into the world she hopes to enter.

Family ties also shape Three Sisters, based on the novel by İclal Aydın. Türkan, Dönüş and Derya leave the security of their Ayvalık childhood behind and face the secrets and hard choices of adult life. In Love and Hope, law student Zeynep moves to Istanbul after her mother’s arrest, unaware that the attorney trying to help her is the father she believed dead. Her feelings for Ege create further conflict within her father’s other family. The long-running police drama Back Streets follows an Istanbul unit whose officers face crimes and personal difficulties together.

Romantic comedy enters the mix with Twist of Fate, in which Ada’s belief that she must marry her first love is tested by her growing connection to her boss Bora. Recipe of Love pairs kebab chef Fırat with French restaurant owner Naz, turning a clash of culinary traditions into an unlikely romance. Completing the selection, the Spanish drama Alba, adapted from Fatmagül, follows a young woman seeking justice after a sexual assault and discovering that several of her attackers are close friends of the man she loves.
