Inter Medya launched its line of Mini-Series a couple of years ago, which opened a new path for Turkish series, moving away from traditional paradigms to make way for a new generation of Turkish narrative.
These series, which are broadcast on local OTT platforms, are different from what is known as traditional Turkish dramas, with its fast-paced style of storytelling, these new generation Turkish series have already caught the eye of the international VOD platforms.
One of the best examples of these miniseries is Naked, which has 2 seasons of 8 episodes each, has been licensed to Globoplay in Brazil and has become one of the most watched titles on the platform.
Inter Medya has also announced a global agreement with Monomax of Thailand who has licensed a package of mini-series including Naked, Interrupted and Tainted Love.
Can Okan, founder and CEO of Inter Medya, said that the company’s next target for miniseries is local video-on-demand platforms in the US and Europe, adding: ‘It is promising to see the success of new generation Turkish miniseries’.
And, he added: ‘The success of the new generation Turkish series, especially in the regions where we do not usually license Turkish dramas. We firmly believe that these miniseries will open us to new markets, such as the United States, Western Europe and the Nordic countries’.
Inter Medya recently attended EFM in Berlin from February 16 to 22 with a wide selection of miniseries in various genres, from thrillers to romantic comedies. Here, they presented a wide catalog of feature films to its business partners during the event.
Company’s horror/thriller and drama films received a lot of interest from buyers and company officials stated that they are already close to closing deals to license many feature film packages.
The distributor is presenting its catalog at MIPTV, and after that, will follow the rest of the markets on its agenda.
