“Submarine Jim”, animation.

Xilam Animation, the Oscar-nominated French animation studio, has greenlit its new adventure comedy Submarine Jim, after signing its first pre-sales for the series with European broadcasters France Televisions (France) and Super RTL (Germany). Xilam Animation is now starting production on the 52 x 11′ 2D animation, aimed at children aged 6 to 9 and due for delivery in Q2 2026.

Submarine Jim, created by Frédéric Martin, the acclaimed director behind Xilam’s hit preschool series Oggy Oggy Oggy, delves into the story of a young, naïve dolphin named Jim. Tasked with running the world’s first submarine on wheels, Jim leads a motley crew of underwater friends on a whirlwind voyage across land and sea.

His water-filled tube left the ocean in search of an unlikely destination: the crystal clear waters of “Fishland”. Fortunately, with no definite route in sight, their journey promises to be long and winding. Along the way, as they embark on their mission and go through many twists and turns, Jim will be torn between his responsibilities as captain and fun times with his best friends: Bianca, the daring orca and the ever-reliable ship’s steward, Cyril the anchovy. Together, they navigate the turbulent waters of friendship and self-discovery.

Marc du Pontavice, founder and CEO of Xilam Animation, said: ‘We are excited to once again be working with the talented Fred Martin: he has a remarkable track record in creating comedies for global audiences and we all instantly loved his concept for “Submarine Jim”. It’s a fun, laugh-filled series that builds on our long experience in the comedy space and we know it will appeal to kids and families around the world. We are also delighted to have the confidence of our long-standing partners France Télévisions and Super RTL and to have them join us in this new adventure, which will bring unforgettable experiences and many surprises for both Jim and the audience’.
