Six months after its official entry into the European market, Digitoonz Spain is beginning to outline its roadmap with a proposal that combines animation services, co-production, and the development of original content or IPs. The company’s new phase, led by María Bonaria Fois, leverages the technical strength of its parent studio in India—which boasts over 600 professionals across its New Delhi and Kolkata offices—and a strategic vision aimed at consolidating long-term assets.

‘The first six months have been about planting seeds. We bring prior animation experience, which we’re now pouring into Digitoonz. We’ve worked on three lines: offering our services, participating in intellectual properties, and launching our own original stories’, Fois explained during an interview conducted within the framework of the Premios Quirino.
One of the pillars of Digitoonz‘s business model lies in its offering of 2D and 3D animation services, with a key differentiator: the application of tax incentives available in India that allow the company to offer direct discounts to its clients. ‘What we propose is that they use our services, and we apply that tax credit as a contribution to the production. This allows us to retain a portion of the IP and generate future profitability’, the executive detailed.
In addition to services, Digitoonz Spain has begun to close co-production agreements with European studios. Among the notable projects is an animated film whose financing is already secured and production is underway. They are also moving forward with YugiBao, in collaboration with Morgana Studios, and La pandilla de Drilo, a Murcian IP that originated as a children’s musical show, which is now being adapted into a series format and expanding its export potential to digital and transmedia.
While acknowledging the value of the Spanish industry and its tax incentives, Fois emphasized that a strategy based solely on offering services presents risks. ‘Sticking only to service today is dangerous. It doesn’t build assets. We want to support our clients from the production side as well, participate, add value, and have a part of the content that generates future income for us’.
In the coming months, Digitoonz Spain will officially announce its first film, and the developments of its new properties will be communicated gradually as they advance in aspects such as series production.
