SIC: international growth with fiction and formats

2025 has been a dynamic and strategic year for SIC, marked by progress in business, international expansion, and innovation in content distribution models. Among the highlights is the launch of Vitória (an adaptation of the Turkish format Gülperi) released in a groundbreaking multiplatform partnership between SIC, Opto, and Disney+. This collaboration signals a milestone in SIC’s strategy to innovate distribution and validates the quality of its fiction, recognized by one of the world’s leading entertainment players.

SIC also strengthened its collaboration with Prime Video, offering iconic titles and new productions such as the seventh season of The Good Girls Club, Rebelde Way, and Magic Minutes. The upcoming release of Red Moon: New Generation, a co-production between OPTO SIC and Prime Video, is expected to revive one of Portugal’s most iconic series, aiming to transcend borders and launch new talent internationally.

Another strategic step has been the renewal of SIC’s long-standing partnership with Globo, which will include new remakes of classic telenovelas, following the success of Dancin’ Days (2012) and the Emmy-winning Blood Ties. This reinforces SIC’s commitment to high-quality fiction that resonates across generations.

Looking ahead to 2026, SIC will continue to expand its fiction catalog, investing in both original and adapted stories, and promoting global narratives with internationalization potential. The second edition of Tribeca Festival Lisboa, promoted by SIC, will further establish Portugal’s presence on the cultural map and reinforce the broadcaster’s role as a driving force in the audiovisual industry.

At MIPCOM, SIC is showcasing a robust lineup designed for international markets. Highlights include the major drama release Vitória, Portugal’s record-breaking hit Broken Promise, and The Last Will. Also on offer is the latest season of The Good Girls Club and a strong non-fiction slate, led by George, a true crime documentary revisiting one of the FBI’s most wanted cases.
